Well no one wants to compromise or make a mistake in
choosing a school for his/her child. This is one of the core decisions which require
lots of careful consideration as it can make or break your child’s career. Gone
are the days when choices were limited w.r.t. curriculum, proximity of school,
quality of teaching staff, specialized trainings etc. Now so many curriculums
& schools are there that you have enough of choices available. You are the
one who knows what is right for your kid. Here I’m just listing few of the
criteria one should take into consideration while making this vital decision.
Step 1 - Curriculum:
In India,
you have following different curriculums in place. You can click on each of the
link to get more information from wiki pages.
- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
- Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)
- Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
- National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
- All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE)
- All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE)
- Indian School Certificate (ISC)
- Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), India
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC)
- Boards of Education in India
Step 2 – List
down the schools offering selected curriculum in your 10kms vicinity.
Step 3 – Now
create a comparison chart in following manner w.r.t. following criteria or
whatever you feel is important to you. Start giving evaluation marks out of
100. I’ve given multiplication factor based on importance level of criteria.
This is mentioned in round brackets after each factor in row heading. You can
adjust it based on your needs & perceptions.
